What is the Felix Award?

Named after our founder’s son Felix, who has cerebral palsy, the Felix Award celebrates individuals and organizations who reshape public perceptions of disability, shifting narratives away from stigma toward belonging, inclusion, and joy.

This year, the Felix Award will celebrate four incredible disability organizations—Epic Players, Intertwine Arts, LAND Studio & Gallery, and Tech Unlimited—and honor community leaders who have played an active role in reshaping accessibility and advocacy in New York City.

Join us on Thursday May 28, from 6:00 to 9:00 PM, at the Brooklyn Children's Rooftop for EKC's biggest fundraiser of the year. Under a stunning sunset, families, business leaders, public officials, and passionate advocates will come together for an evening filled with music, connection, and celebration.

Guests will enjoy performances by EKC's teen rock band, “The Dafunkies,” participate in a silent auction, and savor delicious local food—all while supporting Extreme Kids and Crew's youth and family programs, which help neurodivergent youth from all backgrounds grow and explore in a space of their own, free of judgment and safe from stigma.

Join us in celebrating the organizations and individuals who are shifting narratives around neurodivergence and diversity! Thank you for your support.

Nomination

This year's winner will be selected from a slate of nominees chosen with input from EKC program participants: Epic Players, Intertwine Arts, LAND Studio & Gallery, and Tech Unlimited. All the finalists will be honored at the gala, where the Felix Award will go to a candidate selected by a panel of neurodivergent judges within EKC and beyond. We bring many voices together to honor the remarkable artists and activists in our community. Please consider signing up as a sponsor to help young people design their destinies.

epic players

EPIC Players (Empower, Perform, Include, Create) is a nonprofit, neuro-diverse theatre company dedicated to creating professional performing arts opportunities and supportive social communities in the arts for Neurodivergent and Disabled artists. EPIC produces mainstage productions, musical cabarets, original showcases, and hosts skills-based classes to increase critical employment opportunities, pioneer increased inclusion in the arts, and break down social stigmas surrounding neuro-diverse communities.

Intertwine Arts creates and promotes inclusive communities of weavers by partnering with organizations that provide programs and services to people with intellectual, developmental, or physical disabilities or chronic illness together with their families and caregivers. They aim to promote accessibility in the arts, as well as champion the legitimacy of disabled weavers in the art world.

land studio & gallery

LAND (League Artists Natural Design) is a unique nonprofit day habilitation program that teaches life skills through the modality of art, and serves as both studio and gallery for adult artists with developmental disabilities. At LAND, artists develop their skills in a nurturing environment, while their work is marketed to the community in a vibrant and inclusive manner. LAND artists work with painters, sculptors, fiber artists, animators, designers and others who value creative collaboration.

Tech Unlimited uses technology tools, computer science thinking, and social-emotional learning to ignite unlimited futures for neurodiverse students in need. Students who learn and think differently explore the creative power of tech, practice work readiness skills, and build confidence through virtual and in-person programs in a fun and supportive community.
