Support Team Extreme

Each year, we invite a team of community members to run the TCS New York City Marathon with us, and their fundraising efforts are instrumental in not just sustaining our programming, but also expanding awareness of our work and cultivating a sense of community pride. This year, the TCS New York City Marathon celebrates its 50th anniversary of the iconic five‑borough course, first run in 1976. Only 1% of applicants were selected to run the 2026 NYC Marathon—the lowest acceptance rate ever.

Last year, our team raised over $30,000, the highest amount ever raised. We could not have done this without the help of our supporters, near and far. This year, Team Extreme is stretching the milestone with a goal of raising $50,000 to create joyful, inclusive spaces for neurodivergent children and their families.

Extreme gratitude to our board member, Shell Lee, for his leadership, and gigantic cheers to the board and EKC community for their support. Reach out to get involved: shell@extremekidsandcrew.org.

“I’ve seen how life-changing inclusive spaces can be, through experiencing a similar setup in the UK where a close family member attended. I want to help more children and families access that same sense of belonging.”

-Celia Boddy, 2025 runner

“EKC’s commitment to fostering confidence and cultivating a strong sense of community through arts and play programs is truly inspiring. These efforts are vital in helping these kids to live healthy and fulfilling lives.”

-Christian Scheffold, 2025 runner

“Running 26.2 miles feels like the perfect way to challenge myself while giving back to a cause that matters.”

-Kelsey Stromberg, 2025 runner

The TCS New York City Marathon is one of the most inclusive and accessible sporting events in the world, with more than 55,000 athletes running the same course on the same day—from the first to the final finisher.

Stay tuned to see who’s lacing up for Team Extreme this year!

“I know firsthand how important communities like this are. My uncle Jason, who sadly passed away, found joy, friendship, and space at similar social clubs in the UK. These spaces gave him a sense of belonging, and he even met his long-term partner through one of them. I’m running in his memory and to help ensure that more children and families have access to the same kind of support that meant so much to him.

If you’re able, please consider donating - every contribution, big or small, helps Extreme Kids & Crew continue their amazing work.”

-Celia Boddy, 2025 runner
