Every month, we offer events for the whole family. Designed for children with disabilities and their families, we partner with other organizations and cultural institutions to create experiences many families may not otherwise feel comfortable or welcome to participate in. Public outings, in-person or virtual, can be daunting due to prevalent ableism — whether well-intentioned or not. We understand the need for families to have fun together without judgment, pity, or others trying to “fix” our children. Past events have included a virtual magic show and in-person ice skating!

Discover our newest family program: EKC Family Gatherings at the Brooklyn Children’s Museum!

Please save the date: Join us and register (required) on the last Sunday of each month for an enriching afternoon designed for neurodivergent families. Together, we’re fostering a supportive community where everyone belongs.

Here’s what’s in store for you:

Museum Exploration: From 4 pm to 5 pm, families can embark on a journey of exploration and delight within the walls of the Brooklyn Children’s Museum, each at their own pace.

Outdoor Adventures: Once the museum closes at 5 pm, the adventure continues! Families are invited to join us on the rooftop or in the greenhouse for an optional family activity. Weather permitting, dive into the outdoor rooftop play area and create cherished memories together.

Snack & Connect: Feel free to bring snacks to share as you connect with other families in a welcoming, judgment-free environment.

To ensure a comfortable experience, we’re limiting the number of participating families each month, considering spatial and sensory needs. Secure your spot with a non-refundable registration fee of 9$ for a family of four. Remember, no family will be turned away due to financial constraints. Reach out to lovisa@extremekidsandcrew.org.

The First Gathering will be on April 28th. Our Monthly Family Gatherings occur on Sundays the next one is May 19th.
