Summer camp experiences

Children with developmental disabilities are invited to create, socialize and play throughout the summer at Extreme Kids & Crew camp. With no more than nine children per session, camp will foster an atmosphere of inclusion, exploration, socialization and fun.

Red Hook Camp

REGISTRATION IS FULL FOR 2018

Six one-week sessions will focus on art, music, movement, and local culture, with visiting artists, field trips to NYC cultural centers and time to play in our sensory gym. Our days will be filled with fun and adventure, but also predictability for those who find change and transitions challenging.

  • PLAY in a fully-equipped gym on equipment normally reserved for therapy.

  • INTERACT in small groups and practice social skills.

  • EXPLORE NYC's museums, cultural centers, parks and on a horse!

  • LEARN about science, art, music, movement and more while having FUN!

Our past summer partners include: KeenNYC, Gallop-NYC, MusicWorks, After-school Magic and more.

Ages: 6-9
Costs and fees: $500/ week (sign up for one-six weeks)
Dates: July 9-August 17 – 8:30-2:30pm – Monday-Friday
Location: Red Hook Space, 71 Sullivan Street, Brooklyn, NY 11231 (within P.S. 15)

Ridgewood Camp

REGISTRATION IS OPEN

This program is specifically designed for children who attend a 12-month school program, will be on break for the last week of August and have not been able to participate in summer camp before. It will be structurally consistent with minimal transitions, and lots of opportunities for child-led play. Morning activities will include a variety of sensory materials, building, and art; while after lunch children will have time for unstructured play in the sensory gym. Class size will be restricted to eight participants (2:1 child to adult ratio), in order to facilitate social interaction. 

  • PLAY in a fully-equipped gym on equipment normally reserved for therapy.
     
  • DEVELOP social, emotional skills in small groups, and with intensive adult support.
     
  • EXPLORE sensory activities and materials.

Ages: 7-15

Costs and fees: $250 and financial assistance may be available*
*As always, no family will be turned away for lack funds. Please get in touch!

Dates: August 27-31 (5 days) – 10:00am-2:00pm – Monday-Friday

Location: Ridgewood Space, 62-85 Forest Avenue, Ridgewood, NY 11385 (within P.S. 71)
